Lanai Baptist Church

Thank you for checking out our website.  We are located on the beautiful island of Lana'i in Hawaii.  We are a Southern Baptist Church and are part of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Hawaii Pacific Convention.  Our local association is the Maui County Baptist Association.

The Bible teaches that believers are meant to live out our Christian lives together with other believers in the context of the local church body.  Our spiritual gifts are meant to be used in the context of the local church body lifting each other up so that when one hurts we all hurt, or when one is blessed we all are blessed.  We enjoy coming together to worship the Lord, to read and study the Bible, to listen to expository preaching, celebrating the Lord's Supper together, sharing what we have with each other and for missions, and enjoying fellowship and food.  There is a richness and a beauty about gathering together with God's people that cannot be experienced watching a sermon on television or simply by being alone.  Our worship service is a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary songs that focuses our attention on the only One worthy of worship - our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.  Our goal is to be changed and transformed by the gospel so that our lives show it in every area, and to share the gospel with those who need to experience the freedom, peace and joy that can only be found in Christ.

We don't care about your background, your past, or what you wear; we simply desire to know you, love you, and to come along side of you to help you understand how the gospel applies to your life.  Come as you are!  And after the service please stick around for our Aloha Fellowship time so we can get to know you better and you can get to know us as well.

We desire to live out the true meaning of "Ohana" within the body of Christ.  Please know up front we are not perfect, nor do we try to let on that we are.  We are a "work in progress", but our desire is to honor Christ in how we love and serve each other and our community.  Please use the  menu buttons above to learn more about who we are, what we believe, and our upcoming events.  If you live on Lanai and are looking for a church family we would love to meet you and make you feel welcome. If you are ever on the island of Lanai visiting we would love to worship with you and get to know you.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact the church by phone or email the Pastor at

Sundays Sermon

This Sunday we take a look at Hebrews 7:22-27.  The apostle Paul tells us in Romans 8 that we, as believers, are more than conquerors in Christ.  Meaning we have more than overcome the guilt and the power of sin through Christ.  And no matter what we're dealing with in life we will overcome because of Christ.  In our verses in Hebrews 7 the author goes into detail as to how that can be.  He describes Jesus as living forever, being the only One who is able to secure our salvation, and He is our perfect hight priest.  Combining those together it is easy to see how we are more than conquerors.  The problem is we don't often feel that way because we often have a small view of Jesus.  We need to see Him for who He truely is before we can understand who we are in Him and all that we have because of Him.  Join us and see how these verses apply to your everyday life.  I hope to see you Sunday.

Midweek Refresh Bible Study

As we get to the middle of the week we all need a bit of refreshing.  With all of the cares of life, family, and work it's easy to feel rundown spiritually.  Join us each Wednesday evening starting at 6:30pm for prayer and Bible study at 7pm.  We are studying Transforming Grace, by Jerry Bridges.  In this study we'll see that God's grace is not just for salvation, but it's to be experienced and lived by every day of our lives.  Join us and see how we are to live by grace and are changed by grace.  Grace is not simply God's unmerited favor.  Grace is much more than that.  Grace has power behind it, power to change, to lift up, to hold, to comfort, to encourage, to nudge forward, to empower.  And as we understand it and experience it we will naturally respond to a deeper love and commitment to all that God is and what He does.  I hope to see you then.

Giving Thanks

One of my favorite holidays is Thanksgiving because I love turkey.  In honor of Thanksgiving we will be having a Giving Thanks Worship Service on November 22nd at 7pm.  The purpose of this worship service is simply to give thanks to the One who is worthy of worship and honor and praise.  All of the songs we'll sing will be centered around giving thanks.  This is open to anyone in the community, so if you desire to give thanks to our great God and Savior please feel free to join us. I hope to see you there. Blessings.
